Rules for the use of the Nizhny Novgorod Metro

These rules are mandatory for all persons in the metro. Failure to comply with these rules entails administrative liability in accordance with the current legislation of the Russian Federation.
 1.1. Nizhny Novgorod Metro (further is Metro) is one of basic types of public passenger transport of the general use whose activity is associated with a increased danger.

 1.2. These Rules are obligatory to implementation for all persons being on territory of Metro, which includes the stations of underground passage and vestibules, platforms of the stations, cash halls, interstation and substreet transitions, escalators, underground passages, tunnels, ventilation shafts, depot, carriages of trains.

 1.3. Information about opening hours of stations of Metro are listed on the entrance doors to the Metro.

 2.1. Journey (pass of the passenger through the turnstiles established on an entrance) and conveyance are subject to payment. Free pass is provided to the persons having the right to it according to the legislation.

 2.2. The fare for transportation of passengers and luggage is defined according to the legislation.

 2.3. The fare passengers carried by tokens, the uniform social tickets (further is ticket) or e-tickets (further is transport card).

 2.4. A documents confirming the right of the free (preferential) pass are shown by passengers to the employee of the subway at the turnstiles (further — the controller) in expanded form.

 2.5. Passengers have the right to take with themselves free of charge:

  2.5.1. Children under 7 years. In case of doubt concerning age of the children taken free of charge the controller has the right to demand presentation of the document confirming age of the child (the certificate of birth of the child or the passport of parents with the birth record of the child).

  2.5.2. Luggage on length no more than 150cm (59in) or on the sum of measurements of length, width and height, not exceeding 120cm (42in).

  2.5.3. A skis (in covers), a skates (in covers), a snowboards, a children's bicycles, a sledge, a fishing rods, a musical instruments, a small garden tools which sizes don't exceed the these Rules specified in subparagraph 2.5.2.

  2.5.4. A baby strollers and a wheelchairs

 2.6. Passengers have the right to take on a paid basis luggage, which length ranging from 151cm to 220cm (from 59in to 86in) or the amount of measurements of which on length, width and height from 121cm to 200cm (from 47in to 78in). Each piece of luggage is subject to payment. The quantity of pieces of luggage shan't exceed two on one passenger.

 2.7. It is allowed to use for transportation of one article of luggage a bag-cart with a diameter of wheel no more than 25cm (10in) and axis no more than 50cm (20in) long.

 2.8. Not allowed to carry in the Metro:

  2.8.1. Luggage over 220cm (86in) long or in the sum of measurements on length, width and height exceeding 200cm (78in) (except for baby strollers and wheelchairs), and also luggage which can lead to traumatizing passengers or damage of clothes (luggage) of passengers.

  2.8.2. The firearms, easily fragile objects unpacked pricking and cutting objects without covers. With open sharp parts of a ski, the skates and small garden tools.

  2.8.3. Flammable, explosive, poisonous, toxic and malodorous substances and objects.

  2.8.4. The saplings of trees, bushes, Christmas trees which aren't packed or not tied with a twine (rope).

  2.8.5. A bicycles (except for children's bicycles and not exceeding sizes specified in point 2.6 of Rules), a mopeds and other vehicles.

  2.8.6. Animals and birds outside of cages (containers), except for the dogs equipped with a collar and a muzzle.

 3.1. On territory of Metro and in the carriages of trains forbidden:

  3.1.1. To smoke, to drink alcohol, to use narcotic or psychotropic drugs, to be in a state of intoxication, to offending human dignity and public morality.

  3.1.2. To create the situations hindering the movement of a passenger flow.

  3.1.3. To run on the escalator, to sit and put luggage on steps and handrail of the escalator, to lean on escalator handrail, to be on the escalator without shoes.

  3.1.4. To clutter and obstruct platforms at an entrance and an exit from the escalator, to enter on the barriered escalator without the permission of staff of Metro, to independently move barriers.

  3.1.5. To move on territory of Metro by bicycles, scooters, mopeds, roller skates.

  3.1.6. To put and throw down foreign objects on the way of motion of trains.

  3.1.7. To go down on the ways of motion of trains, to reach out the objects which fell to ways and to walk in the ways.

  3.1.8. To open the doors of carriages during the motion of the train, to hinder their opening or closing at stations.

  3.1.9. On a platform of the station to cross a restrictive line at edge of a platform before a full stop of the train. To abandon juvenile children without a supervision, to obstruct carriage doors in the path of an exit of passengers.

  3.1.10. To litter and pollute the territory of Metro.

  3.1.11. To cause damage to constructions of stations, devices of a way, the equipment, the rolling stock and property of the Metro.

  3.1.12. To be in the territory of Metro in dirty clothes, with baggage/objects/products which can stain passengers, carriages constructions and devices of the station.

  3.1.13. To listen an audio equipment, except individual with earphones, to use facilities of sound amplification, to use musical instruments on the territory of Metro (except for interstation and substreet transitions).

  3.1.14. To place luggage on the places intended for sitting of passengers.

  3.1.15. To sneak into cabins of carriages, on the way of the motion of trains, into service and production premises, into tunnels and on the protected territory.

  3.1.16. To enter into insides of cariagess, from insides of carriages after the announcement «Mind the closing doors».

  3.1.17. To pass in trains, not carrying out or stopping carrying passengers.

  3.1.18. To use without a necessity the connection «The Passenger - The Machinist», the escalator switch with the inscription «Stop», other technical buttons and switches.

  3.1.19. To hinder with to implementation of official duties to the staff of Metro.

  3.1.20. To travel on footboards of carriages, behind carriages, on a roof of carriages, between carriages and in others places not intended for this purpose.

 3.2. For the personal safety of the persons being on territory of Metro it is necessary:

  3.2.1. On an escalator to stand on the right, face-forward direction of motion, to hold on to the handrail, not to step on the restrictive line on the steps, not to lean on stationary parts of the escalator, to hold juvenile children by the hand or carry on hands, to go up- or downstairs use the left side of the escalator and not to stay when you exit from the escalator.

  3.2.2. In a carriage to hold handrails, not to lean to the doors, not to hinder to entrance and exit of passengers, on arrival on the final station of Metro to leave the salon of carriage.

  3.2.3. About accidents of falling of people or objects on the ways of motion of trains, in case of the smoke blanketing, the fire or other situations influencing safety of passengers or train service to tell the staff of Metro or the machinist of the train on the connection «The Passenger - The Machinist».

  3.2.4. At passing through turnstiles to drop a coin in a coin acceptor or to bring a transport card to the reader, not to hurry, to wait for emergence of the allowing signal (a green arrow on the front panel of the turnstiles). At an exit from the station to pass through the turnstiles installed at the exit from the cash hall.

  3.2.5. To pass at stations at the doors working for an entrance and an exit, not to stay, to be attentive and to hold doors after yourself.

  3.2.6. To be mutually polite, to offer seats in carriages of trains to disabled people, elderly people, passengers with children, pregnant women, to observe purity and tidy in Metro.

  3.2.7. On proposal of guardians and (or) police officers to pass the personal screening, including examination of carry-on baggage and luggage, in cases and in the order, set by a law.

Persons not following these Rules bear the responsibility according to the current legislation.
